What volunteer opportunities are available?
Local courses need tutors for the students, particularly those with the ability to help with writing skills. Some programs have incorporated mentors into their programs as well. High school advisors and college admission officers have also contributed their services in helping Clemente students understand and access opportunities in higher education. One should direct inquiries about volunteering to course directors at local sites.
Volunteers have the opportunity to educate, advocate and fundraise on behalf of UNICEF. Our volunteers are encouraged to participate in at least three activities a year to support UNICEF’s mission. For volunteers living in the New York Metropolitan area, we have office volunteer opportunities available at our headquarters in New York City. Volunteers will be assisting in office work such as filing, data entry, or conducting internet research. There are many volunteer opportunities at The Caring Place. All of our program instructors and practitioners are volunteers. These include exercise instructors for yoga, Pilates and stretching classes, Reiki Masters, practitioners of Tai Chi, Qi Gong and Reflexology, Massage Therapists and Music and Art Therapists. Our volunteers also help with office work, community outreach and fund raising.
A. We’re glad you asked that question! SCN is run entirely by volunteers. We always need more. We are looking for volunteers to help train users, run the system, help with administrative chores, coordinate activities, and write grant proposals, among other things.
