AWS B5.1, clause 6.1, requires welding inspectors of all levels to pass an eye examination, with or without corrective lenses, to prove near vision acuity on Jaeger J2 at not less than 12 inches. A color perception test must be taken, but it is not necessary to pass the color perception test.
