What virtues did Saint Constantine the Great stand for?
I think a reality check is called for here. Constantine, Roman Emperor 306-337, was one of the hardest ****ers ever to draw breath. He spent 20 years fighting his way to the Imperial throne, killing more than a few friends and family in the process. When he adopted Christianity, it was as a tool for unifying the Empire, not because he was in any sense devout or moral. He only allowed himself to be baptised on his deathbed, He may be called a saint by some, but this guy came to throne by ruthless ambition, merciless brutality, and cunning pragmatism.
I didn’t know they made him a saint. He was only Christian to cover his bets on heaven. He also worshiped Mithras, the Unconquerable Sun whose birthday is Dec. 25th. Constantine convened the bishops at the Council of Nicea in 325 CE to unify and define Christian doctrine (and to define what was heresy). He also commissioned Eusibius to compile a book of scriptures that eventually became (after many revisions) the Bible.
