Except where otherwise noted, the online tutorial reflects the API distributed in the Java 2 SDK, v 1.3 and 1.4. The first edition of the book documents JDK 1.0.2. (Note that “JDK” is the earlier name for the Java 2 Software Development Kit.) The second edition of the book documents JDK 1.1. The third edition documents version 1.3 of the Java 2 Platform.
