What vegetables will grow well in pots, in a desert climate?
Well you must be a not so far away neighbor. I live in the high desert of Nevada. Like you, I fight the bunnies and the hot sun. I have grown veggies in containers for almost 8 years now. I love it. It is so much easier than digging up the ground. I keep my lettuce. (romaine and other leaf lettuce) in a half wine barrel on my patio. I use these varieties because all you do is pick the outside leaves and leave the center to continue growing. I have my cherry tomato’s in a hanging basket called a topsy turvey Wonderful little invention. I like the sweet 100 variety because of their flavor and high yield for such a small plant. My peas are trellis trained as are my pole beans. My pepper plants seam to love the half barrels also as do the strawberries. To keep the hot sun off of my tender plants in the summer, I use a lattice to shade them. I wrap a 2 ft piece that is cut to fit the circumference of the barrel and wrap it around the top. this lets light in but keeps a little shade in the h
