What vapor feed entry is recommended for atmospheric and vacuum crude towers and FCC fractionators?
The vapor horn is probably the best choice. Next best is a helical baffle with tangential entry. Koch-Glitsch prefers the latter, as it is very simple and reasonably economical. Experience indicates that the feed entry can not be in the cone if the column is to operate satisfactorily at 70-80% flood.
