Produce a Renewable Fuel Supply: The Illini Bio-Energy ethanol plant will produce 50 million gallons of fuel grade ethanol per year reducing U.S. need for foreign oil. This safe, environmentally friendly, renewable fuel will be made from central Illinois corn. The use of either a 10% blend (E-10) or an 85% blend (E-85) of ethanol by local consumers keeps more dollars spent on fuel in central Illinois and the U.S. with less U.S. dollars going to unstable countries who are angry or hostile to Americans. Create a New Market for Area Corn: Illini Bio-Energy’s plant will create a new market for corn grown in the area. The plant will need 18 million bushels of corn each year to operate. That is approximately 346,000 bushels per week. This new demand for corn will increase profits to area corn producers each year.
