What used integrated amp is good on ebay.co.uk?
If you don’t want a specifically AV amp but a standard integrated amp, it’ll be two-channel stereo, so it definitely won’t do 5.1, and will only do 2.1 with an active sub. If stereo is fine for what you want, you could have a look at the listings pages for past reviews on mags like Hi-Fi World (www.hi-fiworld.co.uk), Hi-Fi Choice (www.hifichoice.co.uk) or What Hi-Fi (whathifi.com) What you might be able to do, if your Technics has pre-amp out and power amp in sockets, is use its pre-amp out to feed your new amp via a line input while still using the Technics’ power amp section to drive a passive sub. To do this, you’d need a Y-splitter cable (one pair of phono plugs at one end to two pairs of phono plugs at the other). If you want to use the Technics to drive surround sound speakers or a centre channel, you’d need some sort of AV amp or pre-amp to split the incoming signal into main and surround or centre channels (unless your new LCD TV has separate outputs for these channels anyway.
