A General Household Survey data were looked at extensively during the creation of the formula, although the additional needs variable was finally modelled using Health Survey for England data from 1998 to 2000. General Household Survey data were also used to apportion overall consultations between surgery and home visits with Morbidity Statistics from General Practice (MSGP4) data being used to break these down by age and sex.
