The choice of the correct unit to suit your aquarium’s needs is in most cases driven by the cooling requirements, since the heating performance is always high and commonly not an issue. The cooling requirements, evaluated in Watts, shall be estimated considering two main factors: (1) the sum of the electrical power of all the electrical devices which are installed and working on the tank (pumps, lights, etc.); (2) the worst temperature difference that may happen to be kept between your ideal aquarium temperature and the surrounding environment, usually occurring during summer.
