Anita Roddick was a bold trailblazer who dared to combine creating great skincare products from indigenous plants (a first at the time) with a promise to never test her products on animals, a cruel practice that most skincare lines lived by at that time. I remember hearing her speak on television about the name of her company, The Body Shop. People thought she was “dealing with dead people,” as though the company was a funeral parlor.
