What underlying technologies is VoxCLOUD based on?
At the heart of VoxCLOUD is custom software that controls, manages, and monitors individual computing resources across different Voxel datacenters. In addition to this software, VoxCLOUD is built upon several technologies: 1) The Xen hypervisor: XEN is the leading open source hypervisor, and is a highly efficient and secure component in the Linux kernel. VoxCLOUD uses our own internal Xen builds to deploy industry standard Linux distributions. 2) Network block level storage: VoxCLOUD utilizes a clustered iSCSI SAN that provides redundant, persistent storage that can be attached to individual servers. 3) The Voxel Global IP backbone: As the operator of one of the largest non-telco backbones (AS29791), many capabilities of our global fully-meshed network are exploited by VoxCLOUD.
