What typically do donors designate as the use of their gifts?
Donors typically specify that their gifts be applied to new building construction, old building renovation, scholarships, addition of key faculty, improvements in laboratories and other spaces for students, campus landscaping improvements, support of the libraries and arts and entertainment programs, special lectureships and scholarly events. The uses often reflect the personal interests of the donor or the desire to give MSU a competitive edge with peers internationally to advance initiatives that otherwise couldn’t be done with operating funds.
