What types of youth programs are being used in Georgia’s cities?
Many options exist for initiating youth involvement in the community. These include youth advisory councils, youth leadership programs, youth public service academies, youth town hall meetings, neighborhood youth boards and community services intern programs. With all these types of programs, how do I decide which is best for our city? The type of program that will best suit your city depends on what type of experience you would like to provide to youth, and the goals city officials hope to achieve by sponsoring the program. For example, if the city is interested in enhancing communication between youth and adults on specific issues, such as curfews or gang violence, youth town hall meetings may be the most appropriate option.
