What types of things does Rice have in place to make its admissions process easier for applicants?
Walker: On our Web site we put a lot of information out for people to gain access. And we’ve seen a huge increase [in usage]. Over the past couple of years, [it’s developed that] most of our inquiries now come via the Internet or via e-mail. People can download our information off our Web site. They can also take advantage of our online application through Embark, GradAdvantage, and Multi-App. Our application is available on all of those systems. And we’ve seen an increase in people moving toward that, as they become more proficient in using the Web and electronic media. Last year, the whole university went onto a new admissions and student services program. So we’re in a phase here where we’re preparing and looking out over the next couple of years at which direction we want to go in. It will probably be a little bit closer to more technology-driven admissions.
