What types of things does a medical assistant generally do at a doctor’s office?
Usually, medical assistants perform daily operations like drawing blood, giving shots and vaccinations, collecting information from patients, helping run laboratory tests at the doctor office, and working with medical insurance issues and sometimes assisting with patient billing or other light office work. Medical assistants aren’t usually in the room with the patient, but usually just come in and visit with patients who need specific things done to assist in certain testing the doctor orders. Usually, it is the nurse who is in the room with the patient collecting information and symptoms and taking vital signs like blood pressure and weight. There are many Washington DC medical assistant jobs currently, and the job outlook is in high demand.
