What types of teaching credential programs does UCSB offer?
The Teacher Education Program at the University of California, Santa Barbara offers the Multiple Subject (Elementary) California Teaching Credential and the Single Subject (Secondary) California Teaching Credential in the subject areas of Art, English, Foreign Language (Spanish, French, German, and Latin), Math, Social Science, and Science with an emphasis in Geoscience, Physics, Chemistry, or Biology. The Teaching Credential Program is combined with a Master’s Degree in Education. These combined Multiple Subject and Single Subject Credential/Master’s Degree programs are designed to provide the knowledge and experience, both academic and practical, needed to begin a teaching career. Student teaching is concurrent with course work, so that the knowledge, theories, and concepts taught at the University can be directly and immediately applied in the classroom setting.
