What types of tanks did the British use in France in World War 2 against the Germans?

0

Most British Armoured Divisions in France used the Sherman I, III and IV medium tanks (M4, M4A2, M4A4) and Sherman Firefly conversions except the 7th AD which used the Cromwell cruiser tank. Armoured Reconnaissance Regiments in most AD’s used the Cromwell. Independent Armored Brigades used Sherman’s or Churchill infantry tanks. In the spring of 1945 the Comet cruiser tank began to replace the Sherman in 2 Armoured Divisions but these saw little combat before the war ended. Stuart V’s (M5, M5A1) were used by the Light Tank Squadron of each Armoured Regiment. The other 3 Squadrons used Cruiser or Infantry tanks according to unit.
