What types of support are provided to each KL2 Scholar?
The KL2 program provides 75% salary support (up to $75,000/per year) for a minimum of two consecutive years. Scholars will receive up to $25,000 per year in research related expenses and travel. Tuition coverage for graduate-level coursework is also available. KL2 Scholars may be eligible for a third year based on their progress. Continuation each year is based on review of productivity and participation of scholars and mentors. The KM1 program will provide between 25% and 75% of each scholar’s salary. Like the KL2 program, up to $25,000 per year will be available for research related expenses and travel in addition to tuition for graduate-level coursework. Additionally, up to $5,000 per year is available to mentors of each KM1 scholar. Applicants do not need to attach a budget to their applications. A budget will be required of accepted scholars prior to their appointment dates. Scholars may also be eligible for the NIH Loan Repayment Program and are urged to learn about this program
