What types of sites are eligible to participate in the Seamless Option?
The following types of sites, which may be school or non school facilities (buildings or outdoor locations), are eligible: Open – An open site is located in an eligible area (an area where fifty percent or more of the residing children are eligible for free or reduced-price school meals). Meals must be available to all children on a first-come, first-serve basis. (See Question 10 for open site eligibility information.) Restricted open – An open site with limited participation due to security, safety, or control concerns is considered restricted open. The sponsor must publicize that the site is open on a first-come, first-serve basis to all community children, but participation will be limited as stated above. A restricted open site may also be located outside a needy area if the children from the needy area, who are eligible based on school enrollment or census data, are bused to the site without cost to the children.
