The City will be doing different types of seals dependent on the condition of the street. The following is a summary of the work types and what to expect when your road is scheduled: 1. Type II Slurry Seal 1 day process The slurry seal is composed of asphaltic emulsion (oil and water), latex additive, and coarse sand. The mixture is applied on top of the existing pavement surface at an average thickness of 1/8 to 1/4 inch. Once applied, the composition takes about two to four hours to cure in warm weather. The slurry mixture seals the pavement from water intrusion, which can cause deterioration of the street. The slurry seal, when cured, provides better traction and an improved wearing surface for automotive traffic. Initially, the final product may have a rough finish but becomes smoother over a short period of time. 2. Type II Microsurfacing 1 day process Microsurfacing is a one day treatment, unless rut filling is required. It is similar in application and cure-time to a slurry seal
