What types of sealers are appropriate for natural stone?

0

There are basically two types of sealers; topical sealers and impregnating sealers. Natural stone is, by its nature, porous. It is important for the structural stability of the stone that it is able to breathe. Therefore only topical sealers that are vapor permeable, should be used on natural stone. More typically, impregnating sealers that chemically react with the stone, on a molecular level, are recommended. Of course, every situation must be evaluated on its individual needs.
