Pesticides are products which destroy, control or repel insects, weeds, rodents and other unwanted pests. Because pesticides are inherently toxic, no pesticide is absolutely risk free. There are many different pesticide products registered in the State. The types of health effects these products can cause and the potential for their use to cause these effects varies greatly. The likelihood of experiencing health effects as a result of exposure to any pesticide, including lawn care pesticides, depends on how much pesticide a person comes in contact with and for how long. In addition, a person’s age, sex, genetic makeup, lifestyle and/or general health characteristics can affect their likelihood of experiencing adverse health effects as a result of exposure to pesticides. Reducing exposure reduces risks. One of the purposes of the Neighbor Notification Law is to provide information of pending pesticide applications so that those who so choose may take measures to reduce their likelihood
