Depending on the age of the laptop, most printers should work well with it. If your laptop is new and uses Windows Vista you might need a newer printer. If your laptop is using Windows XP or older, you might just have a driver installation problem or even a bad USB or Parallel cable. The most common problem with PC and printer communication is driver problems. To resolve this you would uninstall the printer, then reinstall it. When it asks if you want to use the same driver, say no, and reinstall the driver from your disk or from the manufacturers website. If the problem persists after you reinstall the driver, you most likely need a new printer. It is very unlikely that the problem is your Toshiba laptop.
