What types of Ozone Generators are there?
There are different types of ozone generators on the market. One type of generator uses an ultraviolet lamp as its source. It produces ozone from oxygen in a narrow frequency bandwidth of ultraviolet light. UV cannot generate the high levels that are required for industrial or health applications even with oxygen feed; it cannot generate more than 1-3 micrograms of ozone per milliliter of oxygen. The second method of ozone production is corona discharge, where a tube with a hot cathode is surrounded by a screen anode. The best ones are called dual-dielectric, because they have a layer of glass separating each component from the gas stream, preventing contamination of the ozone. The third method is called cold plasma. It uses two glass rods filled with a noble gas, excited by high voltage.
