WHAT TYPE(S) OF NEW BUSINESSES SHOULD BE TARGETED FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT?
We need to be more aggressive in generating revenue for the City. Rejuvenating our film commission to more effectively solicit commercials, advertisements, feature films, and events to be shot on location here in Prescott is one example. We need to continue and expand regional car show activities. Our municipal golf course Antelope Hills is a gem of an asset. We need to rejuvenate the course and clubhouse restaurant to draw outside golfers and golf tournaments, thereby increasing the use our overnight accommodations and restaurants. 4. HOW SHOULD THE CITY OF PRESCOTT RESPOND TO DECLINING SALES TAX REVENUES? As consumers cut back on spending sales tax revenues decline. The solutions open to the City in order to sustain its current level of operating costs are to raise taxes to generate more revenue or to reduce spending. Since I am not in favor of raising taxes and am against new taxes, I recommend that the City look for alternatives to reduce spending and eliminate unnecessary costs. C
