What types of music can the flute play?
Personally, I think that the flute can be very expressive and an absolutely wonderful instrument for any type of music. Classical music: The flute fits the mood of many a piece of classical music. Sonatas and Concertos are beautiful, solo-like classical pieces. You’ll recognize names such as Mozart, Beethoven and Corelli as classical composers. Baroque music: This is a type of classical music, also very fitted to the flute, that was popular in the 1600s to 1750. Baroque music will be associated with composers like Handel and Bach. Pop music: Modern music is not an element of the flute, but it can be done. Flutes can make many different types of noises other than the normal, clear pitch. Blowing into your flute in a certain way can create percussion sounds. Singing/humming while playing creates the general sound of a guitar playing. I’ve played pop songs before….challenging and not really suited for the flute, but interesting and fun! Romance: Romantic music is beautiful on flutes. Pi
