What types of maintenance problems are associated with sidewalk areas?
With the passage of time and with continual use, sidewalks frequently experience cracking, displacement between sections of concrete due to uneven soil settling, splitting and uplifting due to pressure from tree roots, “sink holes” resulting from erosion of underlayment, and damage resulting from accidents, from parking vehicles on the sidewalk area, and from driving large vehicles over the driveway approach, etc. Damaged sidewalks can pose a hazard to pedestrians.
