What types of injuries can result from damage done to the spinal cord?
The type of injury that results will vary on the accident and where the damage took place. The most severe cases will result in Paraplegia or Quadriplegia (or Tetraplegia). Paraplegia generally refers to a person who is unable to move lower parts of the body and/or who has lost feeling in the lower regions of the body. Body parts affected by this type of injury are the chest, hips, stomach, legs and feet. Quadriplegia results in loss of movement from the head to the chest, including the neck, shoulders and arms.
