What types of herbicides does ComEd use?
ComEd selectively applies herbicides to non-desirable species, allowing for the growth of grasses and other herbaceous plants. ComEd only uses products that are approved by the Environmental Protection Agency. Throughout ComEds service territory, qualified and licensed professionals use safe methods when applying herbicides and follow standards and guidelines set by the Environmental Protection Agency, the Illinois Department of Agriculture, American National Standards Institute, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the International Society of Arboriculture. All individuals applying herbicides are trained and licensed as commercial operators by the Illinois Department of Agriculture. How is herbicide applied? All herbicide applications are performed using approved application techniques.
