What types of health care services are covered by OHIP?
The Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) pays for a wide range of health care services. Most basic and emergency health care services are covered. You should check with your doctor or hospital to find out whether a particular procedure or treatment is covered by OHIP. Health care service providers will check your health card (OHIP) number when they treat you. It is important to carry your health card at all times. If you have a red and white health card OR green photo health card, please carry it. Your health care provider will need the number and will check to make sure the card is valid.
