What types of grave markers are permitted?
Conservation cemeteries differ in their treatment of grave markers, many prohibiting them. But at TNL we do not believe that simple markers damage the ecology of a place, although we do recognize that they could detract from the natural visual aesthetic of the place. We determine whether markers are allowed on a site-by site basis. In cases where markers are allowed, there will be additional requirements sometimes they must be flat, whereas in other locations a small upright marker would be allowed. It is best if markers are made from a local fieldstone. Grave markers are optional.
