What types of fertilizers are used in the Community, and when are they applied?
Staff currently uses a variety of fertilizers depending on the area in question. Soil and plant tissue tests are utilized to determine the specific nutrient needs. Lawns are fertilized once per year in late spring with a slow-release, nitrogen-based product. Unlike lawns, once firmly established, the shrubs and trees selected for use in the Community rarely need regular fertilizer applications. However as exceptions arise, they are fertilized on a spot treatment basis as determined by visual appearance, and the results of soil and tissue testing.
