What types of fabrics are used for the umbrella canopy?
There are a number of fabrics used to make umbrella canopy and most are available in a number of colors and patterns. Currently the top brand is manufactured by Glen Raven Mills and sold under the Sunbrella name, which is generally the most expensive and the best available canopy. Below are the three most popular fabric types on the market: a.) Solution-dyed acrylic. Very durable and hold the color the longest since color flows through all of the material. b.) Olefin. Olefin is also solution dyed. Very resistant against fading and also very durable. c.) Polyester. Polyester is not solution-dyed, and will fade much faster than Olefin and acrylic. However it is very durable and much cheaper.
