What types of eyepieces should I buy for my 8 Inch Skywatcher Dobsonian Telescope?
1) A few good eyepieces are better than a bunch of cheap ones. 2) Avoid zoom eyepieces — they have many optical problems. 3) For your scope, I would recommend a 20 mm wide field eyepiece and a 6 mm “planetary” (long eye relief) eyepiece. 4) It’s worth buying premium eyepieces. If you’re serious about astronomy, you will own several telescopes over the years, but you will carry your eyepieces from scope to scope. 5) You will need fewer eyepices if you choose wide field eyepieces: one eyepiece does several jobs. 6) Tele Vue eyepieces are the best, in most people’s opinion. 7) Second hand eyepieces are often great bargains. Good quality eyepieces hold their value.
