What types of electronic equipment are eligible for free in-store recycling?
Free in-store recycling is available with qualifying purchases of equivalent new or Apple-certified refurbished electronic equipment. Equivalent means that if a customer has bought a new MacBook, MacBook Pro or iMac at an Apple Retail Store, Apple will accept an old laptop or PC, irrespective of the brand (for example, microwave ovens or washing machines are not considered equivalent ). Free in-store recycling is further offered for all Apple iPods, regardless of whether the customer has purchased new equipment at the same time. Apple also accepts old mobile phones for recycling–with or without the purchase of an iPhone. Apple will accept electronic equipment of a similar type to that sold by Apple, such as computers, monitors, portable audio players and peripherals from any manufacturer, except products contaminated or suspected of being contaminated with chemicals, biological agents or other substances that are not integral to the original new equipment or otherwise associated with n
