What types of dictatorships are there?
Three types- Fascist- The opposing party is destroyed through force and trials for treason (even if they just have a different opinion). An example would be Iraq with Saddam Hussein who would send out thugs to rape or murder protestors or people who wanted to run against him during elections. These usually come into being through war and conflict. Soft Dictatorship- Communist-like places where the people actually see the dictator as a type of hero, but instills strict controls to ensure that he is in power (Castro putting his brother in charge, Hugo Chavez shutting down an opposition news station). These come about from democracies that gradually put out more policies for the good of the “collective” and restrict the individual who might surpass others unless they provide a direct benefit to the dictator.
