High risk only a licensed deleader can perform the work. This includes demolition, scraping, replacing and removal of leaded surfaces. Moderate risk/low risk an authorization number is given to the homeowner or agent after completion of a one day training and exam. Please contact the Worcester Community Action Council at (508) 754-1176 for a schedule of training classes in Worcester. Owners will be able to perform replacement of leaded components and make small areas of loose paint intact with this training. Encapsulation/low risk deleading an owner can perform this type of deleading work after calling Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program (CLPPP) Boston office at 1-800-532-9571 and requesting the training booklet and self exam. Once completed, the owner will receive an authorization number to perform the work required. Encapsulants are liquid coatings applied in liquid form that are made to be long-lasting barriers over lead paint. Encapsulants are for interior use only.
