The Veterans Health Administration (VHA) issued Directive 2007-023 (PDF-96KB) requires cancer registries to encrypt Veterans Affairs (VA) data, and the OMB requires all federal agencies to protect sensitive information. See question 1 for more information.

All data will be encrypted. Rather than having users decide what is Controlled Unclassified Information or PII and running the risk that some sensitive information will fall through the cracks, all the data on desktop computers, mobile devices and mobile media will be encrypted.
