What types of data are collected in job analysis?
Four types of data are generally collected in the job analysis process. These include: • Job content data : the duties and responsibilities of the job; • Job qualification data : the knowledge, skills and abilities required to competently perform the job, i.e., the job specification portion of a job description; • Job context data : the purpose of the job, working conditions, the job’s relationship to other jobs in the organization, and mental and physical effort required; and • Performance data : the desired behaviors and desired results. Often the types of data collected in job analysis directly correspond to the compensable factors of an organization’s job evaluation plan.
