What Types of Damage Does Water Intrusion Cause?
Water intrusion does not specifically damage block and concrete components of the home other than the excess moisture absorbed is not always easy to dry. Wood components can rot eventually or experience weakened capacity. Metal fasteners, such as nails, will rust. Painted items are stained. Furniture and floor coverings can be ruined. Electrical components can short out and become rusted or corroded depending on the type. As the water dries out through the painted exterior or the home, the hydrostatic pressure can cause the paint and/or primer to lose its adhesion and flake or peel increasing the probability of more water intrusion.
