Most custody arrangements allow one parent to have custody and the other to have visitation. “Joint custody” may be allowed which allows both parents to have custody and make joint decisions regarding the child’s care. In this arrangement, one of the parents would have to be designated as having ultimate or final responsibility over decisions.
