What types of complaints cannot be investigated or acted on by the ARDMS?
As the ARDMS is primarily a certification organization, we are unable to provide guidance regarding the delivery of ultrasound services and related workplace matters. The mission of the ARDMS is to promote quality care and patient safety through the certification and continuing competency of ultrasound professionals. ARDMS credentialed individuals have met a standard of quality patient care and all candidates must meet published prerequisites to sit for ARDMS examinations. In 1998 the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (SDMS), American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM), Society for Vascular Ultrasound (SVU), American Society of Echocardiography (ASE), Canadian Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (CSDMS), Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRCDMS), and ARDMS met to discuss common issues among all professionals.
