Proton therapy has an understood radiobiological effect with distinct physical properties that make its delivery very precise. These characteristics, when appropriately applied by a radiation oncologist, will benefit many solid tumor types. M. D. Anderson will be able to provide proton therapy for more patients and more distinct disease sites than similar facilities.
