What types of cancer are fruit and vegetables protective against?
Consuming a variety of fruits and vegetables can help reduce the risk of developing cancer of the bowel, breast, endometrium, kidney and oesophagus. Fruit and vegetable consumption does not appear to be associated with a lower risk of breast or ovarian cancer. One report suggests that tomato consumption may reduce the risk of prostate cancer. The association of fruit and vegetable consumption on stomach cancer risk remains inconclusive; however fruit may possibly be protective.
