It all depends on the purpose of the photography to be done. If it is snapshots, any camera from the simplest point and shoot up to whatever you can afford on the top end. SLRs, film and digital, are used for many things and are flexible, but that does not mean that it has to be the most expensive of the group. I don’t shoot professionally any more, but I have most of my gear from days gone by. I like film better than digital. I have four Olympus OM model 35mms,two YashicaMat 124Gs, and a Mamiya 67 small studio SLR. The Olympus are small enough to carry around without weighing you down. The Yashicas are just simply fun to play with, but if I want something down right, I will use the largest camera that I have. Virtually all of my photography now is scenic landscapes, old structures, and touring shots. I actually hike up mountains to get pictures that I want and carry the Mamiya and accessories in a pack on my back. The total weight of the pack is about 50 pounds. The Mamiya is handy, b
