What types of assistance can I expect to receive from NIH following a natural disaster or emergency?
Assistance to the NIH community during natural disasters and other emergencies is handled on a case-by-case basis in a manner appropriate to the circumstances. In these cases, NIH, in coordination with HHS, OMB, FEMA, and other Federal agencies, will consider such issues as whether a Federal Disaster is declared; the severity of damage inflicted; the length of time an institution may be required to close or that is required for recovery; the impact on investigators, human research subjects, and animal subjects; and the overall impact on the community.
