What type of woods produce the best sound in an acoustic guitar?

I want to know which woods make the best sound so that I can find out which Martin I should buy. Some of the tops are constructed of Cedar, Mahogany, Sitka Spruce, Koa, Indian Rosewood, and Brazilian Rosewood. All are good, all are different. What works best for you (and which combination!) is a matter of personal preference. Forget about Brazilian though. Way too expensive and the quality of newly released Brazilian is low. Koa is great, but takes time to really open up its potential. The only way to find out is to play them and see them. I’d love a Koa/Cedar guitar. But many may find that too mellow. Gembrook man plucked from obscurity GEMBROOK guitar maker to the elite Jack Spira has another side to his talent, rarely seen.
