What type of wood is used to make California Hardwood Shutters?
Our wood shutters are made from Alder, a fast growing, renewable hardwood species grown in the Northwest, primarily Oregon and Washington. Alder also happens to be a hardwood chosen by many fine furniture manufacturers. Because of its even texture and grain, Alder provides an unsurpassed quality surface for a fine furniture finish. Alder doesn’t contain pitch, sap or mineral streaks, so it won’t have bleed-through problems which could mar the finish.
