What type of training and support will teachers receive?
All K-5 teachers will receive three days of initial training with experienced Investigations teachers at their grade levels. Teachers will receive their manuals in July. A follow-up day in August will provide teachers with other materials to start the year, a pacing guide, and time to delve deeply into the first two units to be taught with the help of experienced teachers. During the school year, each teacher will spend a half day in a classroom at his/her grade level in another district, and one more half day will be spent in collaboration and follow-up training with grade level colleagues in Stow. Time for collaboration will also be provided in half-hour morning meetings at each building and six grade level meetings after school during the year. Each time a new unit is to be taught, teachers will have time to become familiar with the lessons in it and to understand the mathematical goals of the unit.
